LEADERSHIP PROFILE

Nusrat Jahan Monne

Director and Co-Founder, DIHAN Foundation

Nusrat Jahan Monne

Nusrat Jahan Monne is the Director and Co-Founder of DIHAN Foundation and one of the most inspiring young social leaders to emerge from Bangladesh in recent years. A qualified Advocate licensed by the Bangladesh Bar Council and a graduate of the University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka, she has dedicated her life to advancing dignity, justice, and community wellbeing.

Her commitment to service began long before the establishment of DIHAN Foundation. She served as a member of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and as President of the Social Welfare Club at the University of Asia Pacific, where she led numerous initiatives focused on social responsibility and community engagement.

"I did not build DIHAN Foundation because I had resources. I built it because I could not look at what was happening and do nothing. Every vulnerable person in Bangladesh deserves someone to stand beside them."

July 2024: Standing With the Injured

When the events of July 2024 unfolded, Nusrat chose action over safety. While many moved away from danger, she moved toward those who needed urgent help. She worked tirelessly to support injured individuals, coordinate emergency medical assistance, and connect critically wounded survivors with specialist treatment during a time when organised support systems were limited.

As a Student Representative at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka, she served as a direct link between injured survivors and medical teams, offering her time and efforts entirely as a volunteer.

On 10 February 2026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of Bangladesh formally recognised her voluntary service with a Certificate of Appreciation, acknowledging her exceptional contribution and dedication.

Building DIHAN Foundation

Inspired by the realities she witnessed firsthand, Nusrat transformed compassion into action by establishing DIHAN Foundation — a registered organisation now operating across all 64 districts of Bangladesh through multiple programme areas.

She built the organisation without institutional backing, without an established funding network, and without waiting for someone else to lead. Guided by determination and a deep belief in the potential of people to create meaningful change, she transformed a vision into a nationwide movement of support and service.

Today, DIHAN Foundation continues to expand its impact across healthcare, education, disability support, mental wellbeing, emergency response, livelihoods, and community development, carrying forward the values that inspired its creation.
